Masonry pointing is a specialized repair that, when executed correctly, restores weather resistance and structural performance to brick and stone facades. We begin with a thorough condition survey that identifies failed joints, areas of moisture penetration, and incompatible past repairs. Mortar analysis helps us determine the original mix proportions and select replacement mortars that match porosity and compressive strength to avoid causing damage from harder modern mortars.

Our repointing process uses hand tooling to remove deteriorated material back to sound mortar, followed by careful application of matched mortar in controlled lifts to ensure full bond. Attention to joint profile and tooling helps match historic appearance while preventing water ingress. For areas with deeper deterioration or where structural elements are affected, we combine repointing with localized masonry repair, flashing updates, and improved drainage detailing to address root causes of failure.
